The Indian Coffee House below the Hotel India is a good cheap place, with masala dosas and other vegetarian snacks. It's staffed by the usual attentive waiters in fan-shaped headgear.

Kwality Restaurant is an air-con haven not far from the southern fort gate on MLB Rd. The food is fresh, the service is good and prices are reasonable.

Dawat Restaurant, nearby on the same main road, is classier than Kwality with slightly higher prices to match.

Volga Restaurant is at the Hotel Surya. There's nothing Russian about it, but very good Indian food is served.

The Usha Kiran Palace restaurant is the place to eat out in style. The Mughlai food is excellent and they occassionally have a buffet as well as a la carte.
